This week, we give the mic to our husbands! In honor of Valentine's Day, we flipped the script and we each asked our husbands to answer a question about us. With a list of questions to pick from (inspired by Couples Coach, Julia Woods), not only was it so fun to learn about each other in a different way, but it was so interesting to hear how our own hubby each answered the question.

If you'd like to try asking your own spouse, here is the full list of questions we started with:
1. If you lost me, where is the first place you'd look?
2. What's something you know about me that almost no on else does?
3. If you had to introduce me without using my name, what would you say?
4. What's one smell that instantly reminds you of me?
5. If our life was a sitcom, which would it be?
6. What three words describe me when I'm "hangry"?
7. If I were an animal, which one would you say I am? And why?
8. Where in the world am I the most myself?
9. What's one thing I underestimate about myself?
10. If I got arrested, what would your first guess be for why?
Read on to see who would never get lost, whose husband thinks of them when he smells coffee and whose hubby shares an unknown super power.

I asked my husband, Adam, "If you lost me, where is the first place you'd look?"
Adam replied, "If I ever lost you, the first place I’d look is in the sunroom on a sunny day where you’d be set up with a stack of magazines, a matcha latte and the sun shining. This is your happy place where you reset, recharge and fill your mind with the “new ideas” and creativity that makes you a force.
If you weren’t there, probably because two cats have already staked claim for the day, I’d have to lace up my running shoes and hit the river trail to continue my search. The trail is the place where you let loose to fill up your body and spirit. Running at speeds few can match, your mind turns over as fast as your legs to work out the ideas that percolate while sipping matcha on the couch. I know it was a great run when you get back and the first thing you say is 'I have a few ideas to run by you.'
And if I need to keep looking, off to Paris I’d go, to find you in a flea market with our daughter in tow…"

I asked my husband Hiep, "If you lost me, where is the first place you'd look? and If I were an animal, which one would I be and why?"
Per my husband "You never get lost and you are always in your office." Ha! It's not wrong! For the animal, "A lemur." No explanation, just a lemur. I mean, they are cute, social and people love them, so sure, I'll take it.

I asked my husband Jason, "What's something you know about me that almost no on else does?"
Jason replied, "Your friends and peers praise you, and admire you for a fearless attitude, and commitment to the projects or causes that you pursue and support. What most people don’t know is that it is conviction, and not confidence, that makes you appear so secure."

Trying to get my husband to elaborate more on these questions was harder than pushing my first child out. He's not the most sentimental, touchy-feely person but he means well and at the end of the day he makes me laugh! Here are his answers to the entire list!
If you lost me, where is the first place you'd look? Target
What's something you know about me that almost no on else does? Lived in Spain but cannot speak a lick of Spanish
If you had to introduce me without using my name, what would you say? This is my Wife
What's one smell that instantly reminds you of me? Rodan and Fields purple skin cream
If our life was a sitcom, which would it be?
Full House
What three words describe me when I'm "hangry"? Stressed, irritable, irrational
If I were an animal, which one would you say I am? And why? Lioness, long and beautiful hair with a set of fangs that come out to protect her young
Where in the world am I the most myself?
Reading in bed
What's one thing I under estimate about myself? Strength in the gym and likability from others
If I got arrested, what would your first guess be for why? Driving at night with my headlights out

My husband was fairly intimidated to answer these questions. I gave him a full week to select one and answer it. I didn't give him any guidelines, and I have to say; the question he chose was not at all what I would have guessed. His answer? Unexpected...but absolutely perfect.
The question he chose: "What is one smell that reminds you of me?"
Joe replied, "The smell of coffee.
It reminds me of the beginning of our marriage, when we bought our first coffee maker and how excited we were. When we had kids, we would make coffee and take those long walks with the boys in the double stroller. We lived in Milwaukee and would stop at our favorite coffee shop; Colectivo. Colectivo - where we took our engagement pictures and we still drink their coffee to this day every morning.
Road trips - grabbing our coffee and having those long talks.
Now with the kids older; our weekend morning ritual of sitting in the living room while we drink coffee and catch up. It is my favorite time with you.
I smell coffee and it always brings me back to you."

I asked my husband Matt, "What is one thing I understand estimate about myself?"
Matt replied, "I have had the pleasure of being married to Ali over the last 13 years. During that time, I have had a front-row seat to see Ali blossom into the amazing wife, mom and person she is today. Ali is many things, including incredibly humble in her impact to the world and community around her. She is the most talented connector of people I have ever met, and I think she underestimates this “super-power”.
Ali is the first person to greet a new face in the crowd and create an environment of curiosity and acceptance. This trait has led to an incredibly diverse community and strong friendship across each state/city we have lived in. To Ali, driving community is commonplace and any perceived stranger is just a friend she hasn’t met yet. This humble approach has led to countless connections and is a characteristic that I have modeled in my own approach."
