Whether on the sidelines of our kids' games, gathering with neighbors to watch a game or simply having a game on in the background, the sounds of football are all around us this time of year. What do we love most about football season? Well, it differs between us, but what we do agree on is how the excitement around the game is contagious and how it brings us together. While Rebecca loves Friday night lights and Kim and Jen are on the sidelines of their daughter's or son's flag football games - they all just love watching their kids play. Meanwhile, Emilee shares how her non-sporty-self married a sports guy and even had her rehearsal dinner at Lambeau! And, read on to hear how football season has evolved over time for Ashley and Ali - loving each chapter along the way.

Football season has meant different things in different seasons of my life. Before kids, it was all about Patriots games, we even had season tickets and loved the excitement of being in the stadium every weekend! Later, when we moved into a great neighborhood, football Sundays meant potlucks with friends. We’d rotate houses, share food, and let the kids run wild while the game played in the background. Those afternoons were pure joy.
When my stepdaughter started cheering, our focus shifted again. We spent years on the sidelines watching her cheer for her high school team, and it became such a sweet way to support her and create family memories.
These days, the only games we watch are our own kids’ tackle and flag football matches and I wouldn’t have it any other way! There’s nothing better than sitting on the sidelines, coffee in hand, cheering for the little people who make life so full. Football season has evolved for us, but each chapter has been just as fun and meaningful as the last.

I love how much my family loves football, but me?...
I could take it or leave it. I enjoy watching my children play the sports they love and I enjoy seeing my family get so into cheering their favorite teams on. But personally, I am really just showing up to join in the family excitement.
Growing up, football (or really any sports games for that matter) was never on our TV. We never had to get home to catch a game, never watched sports at friends' houses, never even had a favorite home team. And then I met my husband, who is from Green Bay, WI. You can guess where this is going? His entire family is born and raised in the Green Bay area. Their family has season tickets for the Packers that were passed down from his Grandpa.
Needless to say, I married a sports guy. We had our wedding in Green Bay and guess where our rehearsal dinner was? Lambeau. Yes, the non-sporty girl had her rehearsal dinner at a football field (and it was VERY beautiful!). 3 kids and 15 years later, I am a devout Packers fan and will always cheer them on. BUT, I may or may not be reading a book during the games. I love how much my kids get into it. Both my boys were born in Wisconsin and I think its so sweet how loyal they are to Wisconsin sports. My daughter is so into it too and gets equally excited to watch the games.
I love the coziness of it all. I love the background sounds of a football game on TV, the cozy food, turning the fireplace on, everyone cheering and getting passionate over the same thing. Anytime with my family, even if it is front of a football game, is a great time for me.

Football season is one of my absolute favorite times of the year. The crisp fall weather sets the stage perfectly; who doesn’t love cool mornings, cozy evenings, and just enough chill in the air to pull out your favorite sweatshirts and fan gear.
Fall Sundays became a tradition of their own, with games playing on the patio, snacks within reach, and plenty of cheering in the air. I love swapping out my home decor with fun football touches that make the season feel festive. The best part? Watch parties with friends and family, where good food and even better company come together over the game. And of course, nothing beats the excitement of rooting for my team—the Philadelphia Eagles—through every touchdown, big play, and nail-biting finish (this past Sunday living up to that).

Football season - between my daughter playing flag football this year, fantasy football and my family's deep love of the Philadelphia Eagles, there is a lot to love. First, can we talk about girls flag football? This is the first year our high school has had JV and Varsity teams and my daugher was excited to try a new sport. Let me just say, seeing this group of young women show up with their powerfull athleticism, learn a sport that wasn't even offered to little girls and see them shine on and off the field is incredible.
Then, fantasy football. To be honest, I love that my kids enjoy it, but it was a pass for me. I don't pay attention to players (or frankly any football details) closely enough to bring any game to a fantasy team. However, last year we started a family league. And, I scheduled a weekly consulation with my son to review my lineup. This time together is a highlight of my week. Fantasy is important to him - so I meet him where he is. (And, last week he coached me to a W against my older brother - what could possibly be better!)
Lastly, I'll just say, my husband's blood might be green. He loves his Philadelphia Eagles so much that it really is contagious. Game time is just fun- it brings us together to cheer our on beloved birds. And, at the end of the day, that is my favorite part of football season. In so many ways, it brings us together - to cheer, to support and to (hopefully) to celebrate each first down, each touchdown and each mini victory.

I love this time of year because the weather finally feels just right — mornings are cool, afternoons warm, and evenings perfect for a cozy sweatshirt. With school starting again, there’s a fresh buzz around the house: organizing schedules, meeting friends, new classes — everything feels hopeful and full of energy.
What really fires me up is getting the family back out to both the flag football and soccer fields. The sound of cleats on grass, kids calling plays, making that perfect pass or catching the ball — seeing their eyes light up when they play is the best. Then nothing beats coming back home for some outdoor time around our gas fire pit: flicking it on, feeling the warm glow, maybe roasting something or just sitting under the stars together. Those moments — hard work, competition, laughter, then that peaceful fire‑pit calm — are what make this season feel like living right.

Friday night lights!! Being at my son’s high school football games on Friday nights gives me all the feels.
When I was in junior high and high school, I remember the excitement of going to the Friday night football games in my hometown. Everyone was there! From the football players to the cheerleaders to the marching band, I loved all the pomp and circumstance. Going to games now feels the same, but I get to watch my kids enjoy the tradition in their hometown.
Both of my boys play football, so the fall is all practices and games. And while I don’t love how much they’re gone, I do love watching them both play.
