What is your favorite television series, movie, or book that is worth the rewatch?

Stacks of paperback books piled against a plain wall, with colorful spines and visible titles like Harry Potter and Wenders.

Whether a television series, movie or book provides a nostalgic respite, an energizing story line or bits of wisdom, going back to our favorites can be just what we need. While we each share our favorites below, another interesting tidbit you'll see is how these stories bring us together with some of our favorite people. Ashley shares a show she's enjoyed (fully locked in and no phones!) with her husband while Jen and Kim share shows they've returned to with their daughters. Either way, if the fall brings quieter moments at home, we hope this list provides some stories to sample or enjoy again.

Okay this question is genuinely hard for me because I love TV and I love reading and I have a lot of feelings about both.

But if I’m picking one show — Girls. I am obsessed with that show. It’s chaotic and funny and messy and it just takes me straight back to my twenties. Not that my life looked exactly like that, but the energy of it — the freedom, the stupid problems, the drama that felt massive at the time — I feel all of it watching that show. It’s hilarious and I think it holds up.

Honorable mention goes to Friday Night Lights, which my husband and I watched together back in 2021 — one episode a night, no phones, fully locked in together. It was such a simple thing but honestly one of my favorite TV memories. We don’t really watch together anymore so that time feels really nostalgic to me now. That show is so good.

If I had to pick one book it would be The Nightingale.

Truth be told, I don't watch a lot of TV or movies, so I'm hoping to take away a bunch of ideas from everyone else's ideas! But, I'll share a few that I've loved over the years:

Woman in a bright green coat holds a phone in a stylish blue-gray room with a gold sunburst mirror, shelves, and papers on a table.

For Television Series:

Emily in Paris: I can't wait for the next season. I binged the entire thing right after my daughter and I went to Paris.

Gilmore Girls: My daughter got into watching the entire series and I watched a few episodes with her - how funny that it is reaching teenagers again (or still!)

For Movies:

The old "classics" are my fav to rewatch: The Italian Job, Thomas Crowne Affair, How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days, The Parent Trap, Speed.

My cinematic sophistication is fairly basic!

For Television Series:

I like to have something playing in the background when I am making dinner, sewing, or relaxing. I’m drawn towards comedy and lighthearted watching. I’m looking for comfort and laughter. I’ve rewatched New Girl and Brooklyn 99 several times. The ensemble casts, hilarious characters, and stories of friendship always make me feel good. It feels like I’m watching friends navigating life.

Framed wall art and awards, including a Moneyball poster with Brad Pitt and a 2025 Woman of the Year certificate.

For Movies:

I gravitate towards movies that energize or inspire me. My favorites are Moneyball, Avengers: End Game, Wonder Woman, and The Secret Life of Walter Mitty. While all of these are very different, they all have tales of leadership, loss, and heroics. The storytelling makes me feel things deeply!

For Books:

I have one fiction, and one nonfiction book I re-read regularly. For fiction, my all-time favorite book is The Wolves of Willoughby Chase. I first read it in 5th grade and it’s stayed my favorite ever since. I like to re-read it annually. For non-fiction, I’ve re-read Atomic Habits by James Clear several times. Each time it provides me with new insights that I didn’t catch or need the previous time I read it.

Ted Lasso is the current favorite. I am starting back over at the beginning with my daughter.
