A Father's Day Treat: Hear from our Kids!

Who better to share why dads are so incredible than our children? In honor of Father's Day, we asked our kids to each answer a question about their dad. These three questions shine a light on their special relationships, connection and the countless lessons dads teach - often without even knowing it. As our best partners in parenting, it is extra special to hear how our kids feel their love. While we share their responses below, we hope these questions help as conversations starters around the dinner table, on the golf course, over a BBQ or wherever your Father's Day celebrations lead.

Questions:

  • What makes Dad so fun?

  • What have you learned from Dad?

  • What is your favorite thing to do with Dad?

Ashley, Millennial Mom Nutrition Coach from @AshleyBreaksTheCycle

What makes Dad so fun?

Family poses on a football field with a graduate holding roses and a diploma, all smiling under a cloudy sky.

Hadley, 19: I can count on my dad for having fun because he knows exactly how to turn an ordinary moment into a good time. For example, on Easter he has all the kids stand for the national anthem before the annual Easter egg hunt. His presence and humor makes everyone smile and his energy brings the vibes up.

Harper, 13: Dad always makes sure that we’re laughing in the house no matter what!

Luke, 11: He takes us to get ice cream, anytime we go out to pick up somebody he’ll go get dome food, he’ll go in the pool sometimes with us and helps with homework.

Matthew, 8: When he gets me candy after hockey.

What have you learned from Dad?

Hadley, 19: I have learned from my Dad to never give up. My Dad tries harder when faced with obstacles whether it be in work, CrossFit, or anything weighing him down. I have learned about acceptance and how important it is to move forward with the circumstances you are given. Most importantly, I have learned that I have the strongest and most protective support system in my life.

Harper, 13: I have learned many things from him about hockey.

Luke, 11: That he’s a human AI machine. How to skate and how to play baseball. How to shoot a hockey puck.

Matthew, 8: I learn nothing.

What is your favorite thing to do with Dad?

Hadley, 19: My favorite things to do with Dad are little things such as getting ice cream, going on the swings, and listening to music in the car. This is when we get to catch up on our lives and see what’s new.

Harper, 13: My favorite thing about dad is his lessons.

Luke, 11: Watch sports, play catch, shoot pucks and going to scoops and going to hockey games.

Matthew, 8: I’m always with mom.

Will, 11: His ability to find humor in everything.

Sam, 9: That he is super active and he is the best coach ever.

Caroline, 6: Playing with him and when he tickles me.

What have you learned from Dad?

Will, 11:
The importance of health and to "Pass with purpose."

Sam, 9: To have mental toughness. To be kind and take care of people.

Caroline, 6:
Everything! My favorite is our trick we do when he holds me up on his hand.

What is your favorite thing to do with Dad?

Will, 11:
I love doing anything with Dad as long as it’s with him.

Sam, 9:
To play soccer, FC26, and Fortnite with him.

Caroline, 6:
Cuddling because he always warms my tootsies.

What makes Dad so fun?

Dylan, 13: Dad always encourages me to do my best, and his attitude makes me enjoy being around him. He’s supportive and loves making others happy. Activities are more fun when he is playing, even though I still can’t beat him at air hockey.

What have you learned from Dad?

Briella, 15: I’ve learned to be a kind, caring person and always put others before yourself. He has taught me that small acts of kindness go a long way and it is important to look out for your family.

What is your favorite thing to do with Dad?

Jacob, 11: My favorite thing to do with Dad is go tubing, because he's really good at driving the boat and it's really when we fall off. I also really like throwing the frisbee and going golfing with him. They are fun because we talk while we do it and he likes to do it, too.

Jen, Bespoke Travel Planner from @GlobalOnDemandTravel

What makes Dad so fun?

Aubrey, 12: Dad's humor makes him fun because he jokes around like he is one of us.

What have you learned from Dad?

Cameron, 14: I have learned that hard works pay off. We are able to have a pool and do fun things because he works so hard.

What is your favorite thing to do with Dad?

Evan, 9: I like to swim in the pool with dad because he jumps in with us!

Rebecca, Woman's Leadership Coach from @PleasantlyAggressive

What have you learned from your Dad?

Eli, 14: There are so many things I have learned from dad, like random facts about farmland and lots and lots of things in the garage, baseball, lifting, and working on my bike. Whenever a friend asks a weird question about why some trees are in a row, I can now tell them it’s to protect the crops after the Dust Bowl took away a bunch of topsoil, so if something similar happens, no farmland will be affected.

What’s your favorite thing to do with your Dad?

Jonah, 17: My favorite thing to do with my dad is talk or learn about cars and automotive information. Even sitting down and watching videos about cars. Going to car meets is so much fun, and it's my favorite thing to do with my dad. Picking his brain about information about cars, and especially the Nova. It’s so interesting and fun because the conversations can never end, and the longer you talk, the more you learn about something super important to my dad and me.
