A group of eight smiling people on a sandy beach, wearing bright summer clothes. Green foliage in the background. Sunny and cheerful setting.

We are in for a major treat here!! In honor of Mother's Day, we went to the women, the myths, the legends - our own moms! Yes, we each asked our mom to share a tidbit of what they have learned during this thing called motherhood. All together they bring over 250 years of being called "mom," have 17 kids and 30 grandchildren. They are known as Nana, Ahma and Gigi and to us - Mom. They are who we turn to on good days and challenging days and it only seems fitting to turn to their wisdom today.

Two women smiling at an outdoor table with cocktails. Bright day, blue sky, and people in the background create a lively atmosphere.

Ashley asked:

What do you love the most about being a mom?

Her mom replied:

The best part for me has been watching you, Geoff, and Courtney navigate your way through life. No matter the stage, obstacles, successes, etc. you made/make me feel proud and overwhelmingly blessed to be your mother. The love just expands. Sometimes it feels like a movie running through my head!

Love, Mom

Three women smiling outdoors, one seated in pink floral dress, others standing. Table with lemon print cloth, cards, and gift wrap. Bright mood.

If you could go back to any era of motherhood, what would you go back to in a heartbeat?

Her mom replied:

I love being the mom of my two daughters, from the day that they were born, to watching them now all grown up and being mothers themselves.

To choose one favorite era is very difficult as each era has been a blessing and gift from God.  My only regret is that I didn’t focus more on them as they were growing up, participating in their discoveries, sitting on the floor and playing, reading more books, and listening to them as they described their daily adventures. I would spend less time on the little things in life that really didn’t matter, cleaning the house, keeping up with laundry and working too much.

As Mother’s Day approaches,  I see my two daughters, who have chosen to be mothers themselves and do it so beautifully.

What is your favorite parenting memory?

Her mom replied:

One of my favorite parenting memories is from when my children were little. I was blessed to work as a nurse just a couple of times a month, which allowed me to spend so much time at home with them. I loved hearing their little feet running through the house, calling out, “Mommy, Mommy!”

I would quietly hide, and before long I’d hear them say, “She’s doing it again—she’s hiding!” You could hear the excitement in their voices as they searched, determined to be the one who found me first.

When they did, we’d all end up on the floor together—laughing, snuggling, and soaking in those sweet moments. It was such a simple game, but it brought my children so much fun and filled my heart with even more joy. I’ve even carried on the tradition a few times with my grandchildren ❤️.

Two women smiling for a selfie at sunset, with trees and a stone structure in the background. The mood is joyful and warm.

Kim asked:

What have you loved most about being a mom?

Her mom replied:

As I think back on my years as a mother of growing children, I am in awe of the many happy memories that pop up. But the thing I most love about being a mom, are the laughs and hugs and all the happy times we had—the family dinners each evening where everyone recounted their day. The conversations were endless and usually happy. This felt like the time of day when we came together and just heard about the little things (and most important parts) of the day. The meal wasn’t fancy, but the longer we lingered, the funnier the conversation. When I think back on that stage of life, I see a full table, a silly dog nearby and a friendly banter that flowed as easily as the milk (we sure did drink a lot of milk in the 80’s!).

My wish for our children was that they grow up to be happy, productive adults. My wish has come true! PS. I thoroughly enjoy our grownup children! And our grandchildren!

Jen, Bespoke Travel Planner from @GlobalOnDemandTravel

A woman hugs two laughing children on a grassy area with tables and a large building in the background. Bright and joyful atmosphere.

Jen asked:

What do you love most about being a mom?

Her mom replied:

Seeing my children grow up to be responsible, hard working, responsible adults and good parents. Leaving a good legacy behind. Being a grandparent is even better--trying to be a good influence on our grandchildren.

Jen asked:

What is your favorite parenting memory?

Her mom replied:

Being there for the next generation---the birth of our first grandchild.

Jen asked:

What do you see as the biggest difference in parenting in 2026 vs. 1996?

Her mom replied:

Social media--kids are exposed to so much more and at an earlier (too early) age.

Rebecca, Woman's Leadership Coach from @PleasantlyAggressive

Two women smiling in a bright setting, one in a patterned dress, the other wearing pearls. Background features blue vertical lines. Mood is cheerful.

Rebecca asked:

What is one thing you hope I always remember about my childhood?

Her mom replied:

I hope that you remember the day that you auditioned for Star Search. You were all excited about the audition, and we went early to the theater in Royal Oak to check in. You had (unbeknownst to me) applied for and been accepted to the audition. If I remember correctly, you were about 8 years old. When they called the person who was before you, all of a sudden, you were hesitant. You were second-guessing what your capabilities were. But, you overcame all of that and performed "Mean Green Mother From Outer Space" like it was second nature. You posed and began dancing the minute that the song queued. We left with you smiling, happy, and sure you would get the open spot. Somehow, this has carried on into your adult life, and I couldn't be more proud of the daughter I call my "special wish."
