What's your Nail Addiction? Or, do you go au naturel?

If the feeling of having your nails "done" is something you enjoy and make time for is a totally personal preference. Between the 6 of us, we have 6 different thoughts on the topic - from no interest at all to a standing appointment in a salon every 3 weeks. Plus, 3 of us have at home options that we've become addicted to as well. As Emilee shares, "I think this question was made for me because I have THE answer. I am obsessed with Dashing Diva nail strips. They stay on for weeks and very easy to apply once you get the hang of it!" See how we've all navigated our nails (and toes)...

I have large hands, tiny nail beds, and thin nails prone to breakage. Ugh! This means it takes a lot of effort to make my nails look good. I could do it myself, but instead I trust the professionals.
For about 3 years I’ve trusted my nail tech, Ryan, to maintain my gel nails at a nearby salon. Let’s call them what they are: acrylics.
Every 3 weeks, I get them filled and a new shiny coat of no-chip. I’ve been doing it for so long, I can’t picture myself without them now. I go for a pointy shape and mid-length. I change my nail color every time because life is too short to be boring.
I talk with my hands, so having beautiful nails helps me feel confident and express myself.

I’ll be honest—I could care less about my nails most of the time. After years of dip and shellac, my nail beds were trashed, and I just didn’t have the time (or patience) for the maintenance. These days, I only get dip for special occasions—vacations, weddings, big events—when I actually feel like sitting in that salon chair.
The one thing I do keep up with more regularly? Pedicures. Mostly in the summer, every couple of months in the winter. But even then, it’s less about how my toes look and more about the experience. I love a good pedicure chair massage where I have no choice but to just sit. Sometimes I read, sometimes I catch up on emails, and sometimes I just close my eyes and breathe. It’s a little pocket of stillness in a life that rarely slows down.

I think this question was made for me because I have THE answer. I am obsessed with Dashing Diva nail strips. They stay on for weeks and very easy to apply once you get the hang of it!
Anyone close to me knows my addiction to Dashing Diva nail strips. I have been wearing them since 2019 and they have not done me wrong yet! It does take some trials to figure out how to get them on, but once you have it down they take no time at all and only need to be changed every couple weeks.
I have tried other nail strips and I have not had the same success. I have also tried other Dashing Diva nail products and DO NOT recommend. But I stand behind the quality and success of their gloss strips. I swear they uphold against everything!
Where can you find them? They are available at Target and Amazon. However, I usually order directly from the Dashing Diva site.
A couple recommendations if you decide to try them out. First, do it as the last thing you do before bed. Something about them curing all night makes such a difference. Second, rough up your nails before applying. No, not like nail technicians do and thin your nails. All you need is a light file on the top to help the nails stick. Lastly, get a good nail file. I toss the one that comes in the kit and use the Olive & June files from Target.

Honestly, until Emilee introduced me to Dashing Diva nail strips I had given up hope to have my nails "done"!
I would get them done for special events since my kiddos were little, but I could never find the time to go routinely. Emilee always had the best nails so one day I asked where do you get your nails done? To my lucky surprise they were at home nail strips!
Like Emilee mentioned there was a learning curve but they are my go to nail addiction they I absolutely LOVE!

I've been on the hunt for the holy grail of easy, long lasting and polished looking nails for years. Sounds dramatic, I know! I tried dip/ no chip and while I loved how pristine they looked to start, I'm not cut out for sitting to soak off chiped nails or stay on a specific schedule. I tried Dashing Divas stickers with Emilee's guidance and I just can't make them look at great as she can - she needs to teach classes! So, on the soccer sidelines, I learned about another option - a long wearing polish that is easy to apply and removes with regular old nail polish remover - no soaking!
So, Dazzle Dry is my current obsession. Some nail salons offer it for an upcharge and I find it totally worth it. However, time to get to a nail salon is far and few between, so I ordered the starter kit and it has become a weekend ritual - I need about 45 min and my nails are good to go for the week. I'll link the starter kit and a favorite color - all summer, I'm loving shades of coral.

I've often heard the saying that we can “have it all,” just not all at the same time—and I've found that to be true. There was a season in my life when I had beautifully manicured nails and never missed a salon visit. That time will come again... I'm just not sure when. Right now, life is full and messy in the best ways, and my priorities have shifted. But every now and then, a moment reminds me of how lovely it is to feel a bit pampered.
But, even better than treating myself, it is even better to see your kids feel beautiful and seen. My daughter has considered herself a “tomboy,” not interested in makeup, hairstyles, or anything remotely beauty-related. But during a Disney cruise, she had her first manicure, and I joined her at the salon. The cast members made her feel seen, celebrated, and completely special. Her whole face lit up—not because of the polish, but because of the way she was treated. It was a sweet reminder that no matter our age or personality, we all crave a little extra attention and care now and then.
